Expedia has a good name in the travel business. They have hotels all over the world on allotment basis so they can offer good prices, their bookings are accepted by solid airlines and yes they have negotiated rates on activities.
In the travel business many companies get very good rates but are too greedy when it comes to their own cut. Expedia quite cleverly has a policy of less income therefore they obtain more customers.

Keep in mind that Expedia is an online travel agency that takes a big cut on commissions from you while YOU do all the work researching and booking on their site. Since they are so big and people from all over the world use them, there is a big chunk of companies that offer better prices, quality, and service that choose not to work with Expedia because they discount a lot and many hotel companies are worth more than what Expedia is offering.
Granted not saying you should not use Expedia, but please make sure you read the fine print before you book anything with them and remember 99% of what you booked will be non-refundable. This means, should something happen during your trip (flight cancellations, delays, or hotel overbooking) you are responsible for finding other means.
