Hi, I would really like to take a vacation this year with my family, but due to recent economic struggles.. it’s doesn’t seem possible… Anyone know where we could go? Anything but theme parks cause my oldest daughter has cerebral palsy, and I don’t want the stress.

The State of Texas has established tourist bureaus in some of the major Texas cities and near the entry point into the state along major highways. Part of the free information available includes brochures on state and national parks, including data regarding public campsites. They also have brochures on the various "Texas trails" (interesting and scenic journeys along good but lesser traveled roads). If you need data regarding private campgrounds, you might check with AAA or Kampgrounds of America or similar websites. Most campgrounds and RV parks are also listed in the yellow pages or are registered on line.

You might also check with any well-stocked Texas library for back issues of Texas Highways magazine to locate additional attractions that may interest you. Texas Monthly magazine also sometimes has good articles and pictures (see the October 2006 issue for their favorite hiking trails, for example). Happy camping!!!

Good choice on choosing Hawaii as your next vacation destination, you won’t be disappointed! My fiance and I booked a week long trip for next month, hotel and airfare for 2 cost $1208-$200(coupon code-ent200, for a 7 night stay in Hawaii) on orbitz.com, we paid $1008! Our hotel is located 2 blocks from Waikiki beach and includes complimentary breakfast! Oahu is a great island because it’s gorgeous, there’s soooo much to do for inexpensive, you have the mountains, you have the ocean, and you have a huge city, but you also have many secluded spots, and world class shopping!! We have 7 days to enjoy the best Oahu has to offer, that’s why we bought Go Oahu Cards, good for 3,5,7 consecutive days and includes admission to over 30 attractions all over the island!! There is one drawback, reservations for some of the tours need to be made in advance! But you save a lot of money! The tours we have reserved in advance for next month are; Grand Circle Island Tour, Hanauma Bay Snorkel Tour, and Diamond Head Tour! Some of the other activities we are going to do with the Go Oahu Card include; admission into Wet and Wild water park, kayak rental in Kailua/Lanikai beach, lunch catamaran, breakfast catamaran, boogeyboard/surfboard/chair/umbrella rental, Iolani Palace, Dole Plantation, USS Arizona and Bowfin, Pearl Harbor, Moped rental, Dollar 1 day car rental! I would recommend a car rental at least a few of the days, it’s surprisingly not as expensive as you would think, 3 day/$120 is what we are paying through Dollar Rental+1 free day(Go Oahu Card)! If going to Oahu try to check out; Diamond Head, Hanauma Bay, Turtle Bay, Ko’olina Beach, Manoa Falls, Makapuu Beach, Kaena Point North Shore, Lanikai Pali Hike, Maunawili Falls! And a few spots we can’t wait to go; Cheeseburger In Paradise(you can get a drink in a hollowed out Pineapple, yummm), and Pukadog(hawaiian dog with fresh tropical relishes)! I would like to take a day excursion to mainland China when I go to Hong Kong. Since I am a US citizen, I am not eligible for the Shenzen Visa, and think a regular Chinese Visa may be a little pricey for a day trip. But I was reading that if you go in a tour you will get a group visa for the whole tour group, if I understand that correctly. If that is true, what sort of tours out there do you recommend from Hong Kong? Thank you.

When travelling abroad if you check out tourist sites beforehand what aspects would make the site itself more attractive, the interactivity with guestbooks, the quality of the content, leads onto relevant webpages, photos, creative writing? I’m planning to go to a beach and I’m interested in Marinduque. If you have any experience as a tourist on this island, please tell me about your stay and any tips. I’m not sure which website regarding the province has the most comprehensive tourist details (eg. resorts, hotels, fees, etc.) and has most reliable reviews.

Marinduque is not really the good place to be as of the moment. Try other places like Tagaytay or Baguio since it’s really hot right now not to mention it’s El Ñino time once more this year.

I have a friend who’s husband was just sent back to Iraq for the second time and I wanted to see if I could find some sort of vacation package where she could go and just kind of take her mind off of things for a weekend. Anyone know of anything special?

Ahhtchoo had about the best answer that can be given. Depending upon where you are stationed there are different options. If you cant find anything there maybe you could go to a massage school or something for the day. You should tag along with her for a "girls" day. The prices would be much cheaper at the school versus an actual spa. Good luck!
